The exam is divided into two phases:

1. The candidate must possess a B.E./B.Tech degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
2. The candidate must have a minimum of two years of relevant experience in Technical Operations in the Power Sector.
3. The candidate must have a valid driving license and should be willing to travel extensively.
4. The candidate must have excellent knowledge of power related engineering operations, electrical systems, power plants, turbines and other related equipment.
5. The candidate must have good communication and organizational skills.
