KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana) Online Exam Pattern

The KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana) exam is conducted in two stages: an aptitude test and an interview. S

tage 1 – Aptitude Test: The aptitude test is an online based test of multiple choice questions. It consists of three sections- Mathematics, Science and Language & Reasoning. Each section is further divided into two parts- Part I (Class X level) and Part II (Class XII level). The total time duration for the test is three hours and each section has 40 questions carrying one mark each. There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for wrong answers.

Stage 2 – Interview: Candidates who qualify the Aptitude Test are called for an interview. The Interview board comprises of eminent scientists from various fields of science and academics. The board evaluates the candidates based on their academic excellence, intellectual acumen, problem solving capabilities, thought and leadership skills, communication and interpersonal skills, etc. The performance in the Interview carries a weightage of 25%.

KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana) Selection Process

1. Registration: Students interested in appearing for the KVPY exam will first need to register themselves on the official website. They will need to provide basic details such as their personal information and contact data in order to complete the process.

2. Selection of Stream: After successful registration, applicants will have to select the stream for which they want to appear, either SA (for Class 11 students) or SX/SB (for Class 12/First year of a Bachelor’s degree).

3. Admit Card: Admit cards will be available on the official website around a week prior to the exam date and can be accessed after entering the Username and Password.

4. KVPY Exam: KVPY will be held as an aptitude test of 2 hours duration. It will select questions from topics such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General Sciences.

5. Results: KVPY results will be published on the website within a month after the completion of the exam. Candidates will be selected on the basis of their individual scores and are shortlisted for the interview process.

6. Interview: A personal interview will be conducted for the selected candidates at one of the active KVPY centres. Candidates will be assessed based on their previous academic records and their aptitude test scores at the interview.

7. Final Selection: KVPY will release the final list of selected students after the interview process. Successful students will receive scholarships for 5 years and annual fellowship starting from the second year of college.\

KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana) Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the KVPY program, an individual must meet the following criteria:

• The applicant must be currently enrolled in Class 11, 12 or a 1st year undergraduate program in Basic Sciences i.e. B.Sc/B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S. in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, and Science streams from select institutes specializing in these fields. • He/She must have scored a minimum of 75% marks (65% for SC/ST/PwD candidates) in aggregate in Math and Science subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics/Biology) in their Class 10 board examination.

• The applicant must have secured a minimum of 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwD candidates) in aggregate in Math and Science subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics/Biology) in their Class 12 board examination.

• The applicant must be studying in any Indian school (Including Gujarat) recognized by any of the following bodies:

• Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)

• Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE)

• National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS)

• State board

• Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE)

• The applicant must be an Indian Citizen and must have a valid Indian passport.

• The applicant must be between the ages of 16 and 18 years old at the time of application.
