The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is an exam conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to ascertain the eligibility of teachers for teaching classes I to VIII in the Indian government schools. CTET Paper 1 is meant for those who wish to teach classes I to V. It consists of 150 multiple choice questions (MCQs) and carries 150 marks. The CTET Paper 1 consists of five sections, namely – Child Development & Pedagogy, Language I, Language II, Mathematics and Environmental Studies.

CTET Selection Process
The selection process for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) consists of two stages:
1. Written Examination: The candidates need to appear for the written examination, which is conducted in offline mode. The examination consists of two papers- Paper I and Paper II. Each paper consists of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) carrying 1 mark each. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.
2. Personal Interview: Candidates who qualify the written examination are called for the personal interview round. The personal interview round is conducted to assess the candidate’s teaching aptitude and knowledge. The final selection of the candidates is based on the performance in both the rounds.
CTET Eligibility Criteria
Candidates should meet the minimum eligibility criteria to appear for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET). The eligibility criteria are as follows:
Category I – Primary Stage (Classes I to V)
1. Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
2. Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002.
3. Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed.).
4. Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
5.Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of two year Diploma in Elementary Education.
Category II – Elementary Stage (Classes VI to VIII)
1. Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of two year Diploma in Elementary Education.
2. Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
3. Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard.
4. Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed).
5. Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A. Ed/B.Sc.Ed. 6. Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education).
